Biodynamic Massage is focused on your individual needs and works with the nervous system to allow the natural rhythms of the body to emerge. This psychotherapeutic form of touch aims to integrate all aspects of an individual - physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. It begins with an initial consultation to discuss your reasons for coming and your past medical history. The massage is then tailored to meet your needs. This style of massage offers a range of different approaches of touch to offer you what you need in the present moment. This, together with a focus on the therapeutic relationship, aims to provide a safe space for emotions, memories and feelings to be processed and digested during the sessions.
Biodynamic Massage is suitable for those with stress related symptoms such as headaches or aches and pains, and for anxiety, insomnia, depression, arthritis, M.E. etc. It’s appropriate for those who feel “that something’s not quite right,” but where there is an absence of diagnosable disease. It’s also for people who want to embark on a process of self-discovery through a body-centred therapeutic approach.
A central aim of Biodynamic Massage is to enable the parasympathetic nervous system in the body to move into a ‘rest and digest’ state. This can help you to digest past events and emotions stored in the body, and allows space for self-expression and awareness of how you feel. This awareness helps you to follow the natural rhythm of your body, for example when you need to rest and when to be active.
Biodynamic Massage is a psychotherapeutic form of massage, which can be useful for:
With Biodynamic Massage, you’re invited to bring awareness to your body of how you’re feeling as you receive the massage. You can stay clothed or undress – that’s up to you – as you’ll be covered with a blanket the whole time. I use an electronic stethoscope, which provides me with information about the quality of touch and the corresponding pressure; this is based on how your body responds to the massage and how you feel. You may experience emotions emerging or you may notice that parts of your body feel numb or cold.
A Biodynamic Massage lasts for one hour. Following the initial consultation, we’ll agree to meet for another five sessions or arrange a longer course to allow the body to fully digest past events.
After the first session, we’ll meet for another five sessions before agreeing whether to continue. It can take anywhere from six sessions to a few years depending upon how deeply you would like to explore how you feel about yourself.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, I am not offering Biodynamic Massage sessions in-person. I can notify you when this changes if you email me.
A session costs £60.
At the present time, you’ll need to be able to walk upstairs in order to access both the treatment rooms.
