Body Psychotherapy brings mindfulness, talking and body awareness together to identify the roots of what may be causing pain in the present.

Body Psychotherapy Therapy Room

What is Body Psychotherapy?

Body Psychotherapy combines body awareness, mindfulness and talking to understand more about what may be troubling you and its origins. By paying attention to the present moment, this brings an opportunity to explore in more depth what may be happening and why. This therapy is based on the idea that we store our emotions and past experiences in our bodies. By bringing awareness to the body as you talk, the body can express itself through feelings, sensations and movements when it feels safe to do so, which brings more clarity to beliefs and unconscious behaviours.

Who can it help?

Body Psychotherapy can help in a number of ways. You may wish to explore past events that have left you feeling depressed or anxious, or you may find it difficult to form positive relationships with others or yourself. You could be feeling stuck, lost, uncertain, or simply wish to receive more from life. You may also be looking for more emotional balance, self-understanding and joy.

Body Psychotherapy can be useful for:

Frequently Asked Questions

We meet for an initial consultation, which is an opportunity for you to talk about what you’re looking for and what you’d like to receive from the sessions. It’s also a chance for us to see if what I offer feels right for you.

We meet for one hour at the same time and on the same day each week. This gives us the opportunity to explore in more depth anything that may be troubling you.

Body Psychotherapy is an in-depth exploration process, so it does take time to understand the roots of what may be troubling you. After the initial session, we meet for another six sessions, before agreeing whether or not to continue. It can take anywhere from three months to five years, depending on your needs and how deeply you’d like to explore the process.

I offer Body Psychotherapy from therapy rooms in either Pimlico or Peckham Rye. I’ll send over the details once we agree a time and date to meet.

A session costs £60.

At the present time, you’ll need to be able to walk upstairs in order to access both the treatment rooms.

During the COVID-19 restrictions, I’m offering online body psychotherapy sessions. When it is safe to do so, you’ll be invited to move to in-person sessions (at a pace that feels right for you).
